He played classical guitar from being 5 years old and then bass guitar at 14, formed a band with some school friends, gained recognition throughout the land (Merseyside) by his long blond curly hair, and became a famous Sales Manager. Well, something like that – look out for gigs as well as great educational design services!
Mark was a clever little lad and trotted through grammar school and university, acquiring a passion and the skills for geography, psychology and more playing in bands. Somehow, a genuine love of sales leadership and education brought him to Blue Apple Education, via career moves that included supporting children to develop business skills to run their own school-based company.
Mark has lived in Bromborough, New Brighton, Lancaster, Morecambe, Northampton, Oldham and now sunny Milnrow (near Rochdale). His dreams now are mostly about the happiness of his daughter Emilie, but he also hopes to combine his enthusiasm for school marketing with his undying love of performance. Event Details
Multi Academy Trusts face increasing pressure to ensure that they have effective and professional marketing and communications strategies in place. More than 75% of trusts do not currently meet the Governments definition of a “strong & stable trust” and as most develop challenging growth targets, they need confidence in their ability to effect change.
In this session we will be looking at how a Trust can develop and communicate a brand identity that will resonate with prospective new schools. We will outline a blueprint for onboarding new schools into the trust and how a trust identity can co-exist with the distinct identities of each component school.
We will be questioning the “Who” to ensure that you have talent in right position to maximise a return on the investments that you make into your marketing.
Our last topic will outline systems that provide a framework to help all staff work together at providing an effective sales strategy to improve pupil numbers despite falling birth rates.
Delegates will leave with some clear next steps and a promise of further support.
Agenda:
- Why is this relevant for your Trust? – The current landscape
- What role can brand, marketing, communications and sales play? Developing a strong brand identity for your Trust.
- Trust Identity versus school identity
- Onboarding new schools – a blueprint for success
- Systems for effective “sales”
- Next steps
- Q & A
Learning Objectives
After completing this one-day course, delegates will be able to assess the effectiveness of their existing brand and marketing and question if they have the talent in place to develop strategies to support Trust growth and pupil recruitment. They will also have greater knowledge of systems that can affect improvements to admissions across their trust and be able to develop a blueprint to support new schools as they expand.
Who should attend?
CEOs / CFOs / Marketing Managers / Business Managers

Blue Apple Education’s Masterclasses…
In 2021 the Blue Apple Education ‘School Brand Identity Masterclass’ was a huge success, with more than 1,000 people from 800 schools and 75 multi-academy trusts attending. These schools and Trusts are now experiencing:
- Increased pupil admissions
- Improved communications to staff, parents and their communities
- Improved reputation in their communities
- A new found pride and love for their school or trust’s new image
As a result of overwhelming positive feedback, we are thrilled to now offer four brand new masterclasses as well as an updated School Brand Identity Masterclass. These masterclasses have been created in collaboration with executive headteachers and CEOs to ensure that we are delivering exactly what is needed in today’s environment and now all are free to attend. Blue Apple Education’s Masterclasses perfectly complement our work with schools and are easy to access. Check the booking calendar to choose a masterclass and date that fits around your schedule.
Each Masterclass presents a key area for schools, academies and multi academy trusts (MATs) to explore, offering clear and professional guidance and includes ample opportunity for you to:
- Apply learning to your own circumstances
- Take away the right practical advice to adopt in your school
- Gain insights that will serve you well in implementing change
- Discover simple expert techniques you can use immediately for great results
Our expertise is crystallised into 1.5 hours of online learning, suitable for CEOs, executive headteachers, headteachers, school business managers, marketing managers or anyone involved in the journey not only to ‘unearth the remarkable’ in your school – but to make sure everyone knows about it! With such clear and evidenced benefits, your attendance at a masterclass will make a real difference – but be quick – spaces are limited and we want to see you there! We also offer FREE follow up sessions and a personal review of your school or Trust for anyone who attends.

Mark Davis
Born in Merseyside where children opt early for either football or music. Though his three brothers were football mad, Mark was more Paul McCartney than Mo Salah.
He knows that neither are likely to be accompanied by long blond curly hair again – but he believes in magic!
